Unless yous mistyped I'm surprised yous aren't having more issues... The current update level of Function 2008 is 12.three.ix, so you are several major updates behind. Particularly since you lot're running the software on an OS that's 3 generations more than current than what information technology was designed for that's a major discrepancy.

I'd suggest you follow the procedure described here Update Office 2008

Once the software is fully updated run Disk Utility to repair permissions again and so restart your Mac. If you continue to have a problem reply in this thread for further suggestions.

Hi Bob,

thanks for your respond to my question. It was helpful in so far that I learned how to apply the Microsoft update feature . There is obviously a difference between the US an the European marketplace. The latest update I got was 12.3.vi.

The trouble with WORD nonetheless still persists. Discussion stops working when I select the drawing-symbols; all other symbols work fine.

This may remedy the situation (I'1000 assuming you meant View> Toolbars> Drawing?);

Go to View> Customize Toolbars & Menus
On the Toolbars & Menus page, click the name of the Cartoon toolbar
Click the Reset button
Click OK
Quit Word -- If prompted to save changes to Normal.dotm template click OK and so see if things are improve when y'all launch the program

The side by side doubtable on the list would be the possibility of font disharmonize. Follow the procedure described hither in order to clear upwards any that may exist: Font Weeding. When done, Shut Down for a minute or ii, then see if the feature behaves when you next launch the plan.

thanks again for your effort. Your assumption is absolutely right.

But, going through your procedure WORD stops reacting already when I try to select "Drawing" in your step 2.

When going through "Font Weeding" I get the answer "no duplicates found".
